In the foreground are members of 1 Section, Fire Assault Platoon, Support Company, 7RAR. The soldiers in the foreground are 1411237 Lance Corporal Bob "Shaky" Wall (left) and Private 4411058 (Pte) Stephen ("Shorty") Craig (centre). Nui Dat, South Vietnam. 1968-10. Private Andrew Hoban of Auburn, NSW, passes the ball quickly to Sergeant Bob Towns of Quirindi, NSW, during a touch football game between A and D Companies of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), at the battalion's base camp at Nui Dat. The match ended in a 1-all draw. The mud didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the players who were all bare footed, left to right: Private (Pte) John Taylor of Orange, NSW; Pte Tony Scott of Holsworthy, NSW, Corporal Paul Richardson of New Farm, Qld; Pte Hoban and Sergeant Towns.

1970. 1201940 Signaller Robert Barclay 'Scotty' Wilson, of 104 Signal Squadron, outside his tent at Nui Dat, in Phuoc Tuy province, South Vietnam. He is holding his L1A1 Self Loading Rifle, and sitting on a wall of sand-bags. On his second tour of duty in Vietnam, this time with 1 Field Squadron, the Royal Australian Engineers, Robert Wilson was involved in an accident in Phuoc Tuy province. He died of his injuries in the US Army 24th Evacuation Hospital at Long Binh, on 16 July 1971.

Nui Dat, South Vietnam. August 1971. Havilland Sailfish yachts such as these can be found skimming across the water of a large dam within the perimeter of the 1st Australian Task Force Base (1ATF), at Nui Dat. Members of 1st Field Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE), formed a club and with their fleet of four sailfish participate in recreation and competitive sailing. Despite the tranquil nature of the dam, variable wind conditions fully test even experienced sailors. The club's first president is Major R. P. Kudnig.
