OAKES, Matthew. Private 87174, 3rd Company, Machine Gun Corps, Infantry. He was killed in action on the Cambrian front, France on the 28th March 1918 aged 35.

He is commemorated on a family memorial in Holy Trinity Churchyard, Hurdsfield, near Macclesfield, Cheshire and also on the Arras Memorial, France
