Extended Description
Charles Henry RANDALL. Quarter Master Sergeant, Foreman of works, Royal Engineer
He was born 1850, baptised 18 August 1850 at South Stoneham, Hampshire to John and Martha Randall, nee East.
1861 with his parents and siblings on Sholing Common, Hound, Hampshire.
1871 with his mother widowed mother at 28 Charlton Cottage, Chapel Street, South Stoneham Hampshire, occupation, apprentice carpenter.
He was married in 1880 at Medway, Kent to Margaret Eliza (registered as Maggie) Cooling.
1881 he was Stationed as Staff Sergeant, Royal Engineers, and living with his wife Maggie at 66, Mill Street, Gillingham, Kent.
He died at Malta 10th August 1885 aged 35.
This stone was erected by his affectionate wife as a last token of love and respect.

This is my Great great great grandfather, I recently found my great great grandfather , Charles Lionel Randall's register of birth and found this. Thank you Mr 28th61st for finding this very important piece of my family's history. I have no way to contact you , this is all I can do, but would it be possible to know where you got this information about him, his wife and his late third son Victor Albert Randall?? I'm trying to find more information about this missing segment of my family. Please if it is possible,let me know on the comment section

Thank you for making contact.
I added some new information yesterday. When I research a person I always go to Ancestry and look for a family tree, in this case there are several. The main pointers for research his the date of birth, failing that the birth year and if you know date or year that person died. The other way is to search in churchyards and cemeteries starting at his birth location. In this case I was researching all the burials in Pieta Cemetery, Malta. If I find and more information I will let you know.

Thank you so much for your reply sir, I went through Ancestry and indeed found about 13 family trees with Charles Randall being a common ancestor. My great grandma Daisy Randall would have been elated to see them if she was here today and especially the photos of the grave of her dear grandfather she never met. My family and me have had surprising and emotional 2 days thanks to finally finding about all this thanks to you and working on making a family tree of our own on the website. We are in Sri Lanka you see, where Charles Lionel Randall ( son of Charles Henry Randall) came to work as one of the engineers of the railway system where he met and married an Anglo Indian Kadirai Salamma Uraishan, the rest is history. I will try and get in contact with some of the extended family in Kent ( which was my mission all along) .
