last time me and the OH were out hiking in Fuerteventura we were about 5 km from the car and what strides from the other direction a naked Jerman with two walking poles and a ruck sack  he must have spent a fortune on suntan

Well, if that’s your beach of choice good for you and no one here will judge you. :D

Anyway, I haven’t been to the Canary Islands in over two decades, I did enjoy Tenerife and La Playa de Las Americas (South of the Island) and the Loro Park and the Teide Volcano, which is fairly impressive.

It’s the right place to soak up the sun all year and makes for a nice break from winter if going there during Christmas holidays.

Walking poles, you are saying? A Pole phucked up his left toe while walking today. However, the Pole is still going to do a lot of walking in the next 10 days. 25 kms was a big thing two days ago.

Hey, maybe they hate you too
not sure about that as I am paying/paid £900 for them to stay in luxury for a couple of days - so they can bring their *ucking dogs:oops:

I would have rather spent that on me and the OH sitting on a beach on xmas day looking out on a turquoise blue sea

they always end up spoiling Xmas for my OH and she say never again and here we are again

I gave them £700 last year to come but because one of her other relative decided to grace us with her presence they then cancelled the cottage they had booked and kept the money..............

Oh and they never bring any food or anything so I end up with another £500-600+ bill for food and drinks

not even a decent bottle of malt down my neck is going to make this any better this year - hope it snows(Y)

I just wanted a gentle quiet Xmas with no *ucking drama

The Waverely owners got a donation of a 1 million from the Scot Gov .... if the new boiler is already built and installed in time .. she be ready for next yr .

Las Palmas

The images of the Beach is a mix of black stone sediment and sandstone ..as the darker areas reminds me of Iwo Jima Beach . Is it a shared harbour ... with Commercial and Millitary Vessels .. Is there public access from the other side or is the only public viewpoint was from the spot you were at ??

Playa de las Canteras has black sand in the south and golden sand in the north.

The harbour is on the other side and it's shared with commercial and military vessels.
That's where I was standing.

There's a beach on this side that is close to the yacht harbour and it's called Playa de las Alcaravaneras:

@Musashi

Great photos - do the big Fred Olsen ships come into the harbor?

If we are in Feuter we normally take the ferry to Lanzagrote to have a cup of tea - they operate a hydrofoil and a small ferry - hydrofoil is great

Yes, the ferry was there when I was walking around. However, I'm not going to pay them £120 to have a trip to Tenerife and back. I've already been there five times.
