The problem is I bet she is thinking of the issues that have been associated with driverless cars and soap dispensers and applying them to all recognition software.
Not something I'd normally say, but to be fair to her, trials thus far of facial recognition technology HAVE shown it to be very poor on non-white faces - with lots and lots of false positives.
It's a technology for lazy and/or useless law enforcement agencies anyway.
