Sgtt Griggs of 214 Squadron, points to minor damage to his Stirling after crash-landing at Stradishall, 28 June 1942. The aircraft was damaged by flak and fighters after attacking Bremen. The minor damage is referring to the hole he is pointing at not the crash landing
Sgt Frank Morton Griggs and members of his crew were each awarded the DFM for their actions during this mission which saw 3 enemy aircraft shot down. Griggs was later awarded the DFC while serving with 109 Sqn; and a Bar to his DFC while serving in Malaya.
