The WATCHKEEPER programme represents the central element of the UKs current plans for acquiring Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), which will provide UK battlefield commanders with accurate, timely and high quality imagery. The Watchkeeper system will enter service in the British armed forces in 2006 and will be in service for 30 years. A full Watchkeeper system can be deployed to theatre in a single C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.
WATCHKEEPER will be operated and deployed by 32 Regt Royal Artillery to meet the information requirements of LAND Manoeuvre Commanders.
