John Thomas FRISBY. Private 9709 2nd Northumberland Fusiliers. Born 1886 at Busby, Lincolnshire to George and Mary Ann Frisby, nee Sharpe. 1891 residing with his parents and siblings at Barton, Nottinghamshire. 1901 employed as a servant to John E Elnor, farmer at Gamston, Nottinghamshire. 1911, then married and residing with his wife Mary Elizabeth Frisby, nee Lane and children at 79 Devonshire cottages, Barrow Hill, nr Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Occupation, Army Reservist and engine fitter at blast furnace.
Killed in action in France 1 October 1915 aged 29. Commemorated on his parents’ memorial in Park Cemetery, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. His widow was granted a war gratuity 11 July 1916, revised 13 August 1919, now called Mary Cartnell.
