When an aeroplane, which was caught on fire with it's bombs, was on the ground blazing, Corporal (Acting-Sergeant) W. W. Gregg and 1st Class Air Mechanic (Acting-Corporal) H. P. Lowe, of the Royal Flying Corps, regardless of danger, rushed up and cut out the officer pilot, who was unconscious. Immediately afterwards the bombs exploded. For their conspicuous gallantry both men were rewarded with the D.C.M.
