Three for one in this pic. Top is an M38TS. Lira was again scarce when this model was made. It was made in a small size and with fixed sights to conserve resources. The Italian navy used a lot of these for some reason - primarily those made by Beretta.
The middle example is a cavalry carbine. Light and handy, it was used by a variety of troops. Cavalry, of course - military police, paras and motorcyclists, for example. It was also a favorite of partisans.
The bottom one is a "Balilla Moschetto" used for drilling and familiarization by the fascist youth groups. They fired a wooden bullet or even just toy percussion caps. Balilla were Italy's way of indoctrinating children to be good little fascists. If both parents were party members, kids could be enrolled as early as age four(!!).
I see I've forgotten the M38 short rifle and M41 rifle. I'll add those after I see if I've made a mess of this so far. SW
