L172 ARTHUR JOSEPH WARD. Stoker 1st Class SS122597 Royal Navy on HMS Ajax. Born 11th August 1900 at Clonmell Andrew and Margaret Ellen Ward. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at 64
Inkerman Barracks, Woking, Surrey. His father was Sergeant Major 4th Royal Irish Regiment. In 1911 he was living with his parents Andrew and Margaret Ellen War at 25 Prospect Park, Exeter, Devon. His father then an army pensioner was employed in army record Office. Enlisted 14th March 1919 as K55868, occupation, assistant telegraph linesman. (Formerly Ordinary Seaman J73991, Royal Navy enlisted 19 July 1917 on HMS Pembroke occupation Assistant Telegraph Linesman. On the 14 May 1919 he transferred as Stoker 1st Class SS122597). Died 10th April 1922 of carbon monoxide poisoning on board his ship on the 10th April 1922. His father was informed of his death on the 12th April 1922.
At rest in Plot L, Grave 172, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Kalkara, Malta.
