John Patrick BURKE

BURKE, John Patrick. Private 60553, 17th Royal Welsh Fusiliers died 21st August 1917. He is at rest in Wolverhampton Cemetery, Staffordshire. Some notes from what remains of his army record. He joined up on 25th July 1910 aged 28 and 2 months. His occupation was an Inspector and he lived with his parents at 15, Chapel Street, Wolverhampton. His mother, Margaret was his next of kin. He was posted as Private 2438, D Squadron, Staffordshire Yeomanry. His annual training took place on the 18th September 1911 at Keele Park, and at Needwood on the 19th May 1912. On the 25th July 1914 he re-engaged for a period of one year. No other record was found for his period with the Fusiliers. (Army Record of Soldiers' Effects, Ancestry) have his death location as Chelsea. His effects went to his mother.
