John Brennan WAUGH. Private 648945, 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles Battalion
His service records shows his date of birth as 10 July 1887 which is incorrect, source https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/
His correct birth date is 15 August 1886, birth registered as John. His mother Elizabeth Jane Waugh, single person who resided at Mount Stewart, near Newtownards, County Down
(CWGC have her residence as 81 High Street Belfast. September 1916 his mother was residing at The Temples, Mount Stewart, County Down.
1920 army pensioner was residing at 20 Sunnyside Street Ormeau Road, Belfast. Died 28 September 1920 age 34 years old at the Ulster Volunteer Hospital Botanic Avenue of Cardiac failure following mitral regurgitation, chronic bronchitis and capillary bronchitis. His uncle James McCready of 29 Rochester Street, Ravenhill Road Belfast was at his bedside. (1960 the McCready family were still at the same address)

Notes from his service records
Joined 16 February 1916 at Frood Ontario aged 29 years, occupation druggist resided at Notre Dame Street, Sudbury Ontario. His mother at this time was residing at 29 Rochester Street, off Ravenhill Road Belfast.
He embarked Canada 31 October 1916 with 159th Battalion C.E.F. on S.S. Empress bound for Moore Barracks, Canadian Army Training Camp Shorncliffe near Cheriton in Kent. Disembarking at at Liverpool 11 November 1916. 30 January 1917 at Shoreham, Kent transferred to 8th Battalion. 6 March 1917 at Shorncliffe transferred to 4th Battalion.
Embarked from Folkestone bound for France 6 March 1917, marched into Canadian Base Depot to await mobilization to his unit. 3 April 1917 joined the 3rd battalion in the Field
A September 1917 he was gassed at Méricourt-L'Abbé Somme France from a mustard gas shell explosion which cause sever burning. Treated at 5th General Hospital Rouen France 8 September 1917.
26 September 1917 Invalided to Bath War Hospital, Coombe Park, Bath Gloucestershire where he was admitted 29th.
13 November 1917 transferred to Canadian Convalescent Hospital Bearwood, Wokingham, discharged 11 December 1917.
2 November 1918 admitted into 11th Canadian General Hospital, Moore Barracks, Shorncliffe suffering from influenza. Discharged 16 November 1918.
5 April 1919 re-admitted 11th Canadian General Hospital, discharged 29 May 1919.
16 July 1919 admitted in 16 Canadian General Hospital, Orpington, Kent suffering from bronchitis, discharged 25 July.
15 August 1919 discharged at No 2 Canadian Discharged Depot. Being no longer physically fit for war service under K.R. & O. Par 392, Section XXV
