Jack Sylvester MAUNDERS. Lance Corporal 5185423, 9th Durham Light Infantry, formerly joined the Glosters. Born 1921 at Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire to Edward Sylvester and Agnes Elizabeth Maunders, nee Moore of Coombe, Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire. He joined Gloucestershire Regiment in W.W.2, but was returned home to work at Listers Foundry, Dursley which was a reserve occupation. He then re-joined the army and posted into the Durham Light Infantry. Killed in action while liberating the village of Dieteren and surroundings 21 January 1945 aged 23. He was buried first in the village of Dieteren and some years later the War Cemetery in Nederweert. Limburg, Netherlands.
