McCULLOUGH, Hugh, Private 3/5735, 5th Cameron Highlanders He Born 18 March 1891 to Alexander and Margaret Jane, Nee Shanks of Ballycastle Mountstewart, Newtownards, Co. Down.
1888 when her son Francis was born she used her full name Margaret Jane.
1901-1911 Irish Census. have the surname as M Cullough.
1901 with his parents and four siblings at 18 Ballycastle Mount Stewart, County Down.
1911 he is a boarder at 14 Castleknock Dublin at the home of William Brodie, occupation aged 20 gardener.
Enlisted in Inverness Scotland
His army records did not survive the blitz over London in WW2.
Died of wounds on the 27th April 1918 aged 27. It appears that no one applied for a war gratuity (pension)
He is commemorated on a family memorial in Greyabbey Cemetery, County Down and he is at rest in Arneke British Cemetery, Nord France.
