George FOSTER

Extended Description
Private 24421497 George FOSTER Ex UDR serving with the Northern Ireland Prison Service.
14 September 1979 he and a work colleague had just left the Buff's Club, on the Crumlin Road near the prison after lunch, were sat in a in a Ford Capri car in Century Street. They were attacked by PIRA gunmen, using sub-machine guns riddling the car with thirty-three (33) shots. He was killed aged 30, his colleague was hit in the shoulder, but survived. Both were off duty.

Commemorated on tree memorial plaque at the Ulster Ash Grove, National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire. He is also included Armed Forces Memorial at the N.M.A..
