F009 DENNIS KENNETH ASHTON, Sergeant Pilot, 741212, Royal Air Force (VR), 261 Squadron. Born 1915 to Leonard and Margaret Helen Ashton, husband of Ethel Ashton, Carlton, Nottinghamshire. Died 26th November 1940 he was flying a Hurricane. During aerial combat he was shot down into the sea off Malta and was killed aged 25 years.

"26/11/40. 23o Gruppo appeared over the island again on this day, when three CR.42s appeared over Malta on a reconnaissance. They were intercepted by two Hurricanes and Sergeant Dennis Ashton, who had been informed the previous day that he had just become a father, shot down the CR.42 flown by Tenente Giuseppe Beccaria in flames. At once his own aircraft, N2701, was attacked by Capitano Guido Bobba, and fell into the sea south of the island. Ashton did not survive and he was the third RAF pilot killed in combat over Malta."
F009 HARRY DONALD FOX, Sergeant, 405353, Royal Australian Air Force. Born 30 August 1922 to Harry and Lilian Francis Fox, of Torwood, Queensland, Australia. He enlisted 3 March 1941 in Queen Land. Posted to Malta where he was attached to the Royal Air Force 1 Overseas Aircraft Delivery Unit (OADU). At about 02.30 hrs on the morning 13 August 1942 he was part of a crew delivering to RAF Luqa, Malta. Repatriation Aircraft, Wellington Mk IV DV542. The pilot over shot the aerodrome, attempting to go around, crashed and burst into flames. He died aged 19 years, the remainder of the crew were injured, some seriously.

Born 1921 in the registration district of Edmonton, Essex to Harold and Winifred Swain, nee Squier of Highams Park, Essex. Died flying a Supermarine Spitfire while practicing dogfighting with Captain K.L.Kuklmann, when he spun out of control and crashed near RAF Luqa 13th September 1942 aged 20 years.

Born 24 January 1921 at Vetran, Alberta, Canada to Edgar Clare and Jean Constance Campbell Hogarth, nee Campbell. Nephew of Bruce Bowers Hogarth, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Enlisted aged 19 5 March 1941, resided at 366 Brock Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Died 4th October 1942 aged 21 years.
