At approximately 1,000 feet the port (left) engine cut out and caught fire and crashed at RAF Luqa on landing. The aircraft at the time of the crash was carrying depth charges.

His father Frederick Foster Wagstaff fought and survived the Great War as Private 91425, 9 Tank Corps

At rest in Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta Plot F Grave 49

This is my great-uncle Michael. I believe the circumstances of his crash were related to extreme fog conditions, and no engine failure. May I ask how you acquired the information and photographs? Thank you for posting this and for going to his gravesite.

Hi, thank you for posting. This is my great-uncle Michael. I believe the circumstances of the crash were extreme fog conditions and not engine failure. May I ask how you acquired the information and the photographs? I only recently discovered his wife’s family and received the wedding photos, which none of the Wagstaffe’s had, until November 2018.
