Edgar Jonathan SPRACKLIN. Leading Seaman 1113/X Newfoundland Royal Naval Reserve on H.M.S.Bayano died on the 11th March 1915 aged 35. His mother, Fanny of 1 Oak Street Deal Kent was informed of his death. Husband of Marcella.
His body was found at Portaferry County Down 25 March 1915. Inquest held at Lisburn County Down
He is at rest in St Andrews Churchyard, Ballyhalbert, County Down. Northern Ireland
At 05.15 on 11 March 1915, the ship was attacked by the German submarine SM U-27 about 10 nmi (12 mi; 19 km) west of Corsewall Lighthouse, Corsewall Point, Galloway, Scotland. en route to Liverpool for coaling. The captain and 194 crew all perished..
