CARTLAND FAMILY WAR MEMORIAL

This memorial is situated at the main entrance to the grounds of the Abbey.

To the glory of God and in proud memory of

James Bertram Faulkner Cartland, Major 1st Worcestershire Regiment who fell in action 27th May 1918 aged 42 at Berry-au-Bac.
Born 1876 at Edgbaston Warwickshire to James Franklin Howard Hamilton and Flora Cartland nee Falkner. 1881 with his parents and siblings at 314 Bristol Road Edgbaston
On the 5 July 1900 at Saint Batholomew Redmarley Dabitot Worcestershire to Mary Hamilton Scobell. He was aged 24 years, Captain in the Worcestershire Militia at Aldershot Hampshire
1901 with his wife at Bowbrook House, Peopleton, Pershore Worcestershire. 1911 with his family at Amerie Court, Pershore, Worcestershire. Commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, France.

James Anthony Hamilton Cartland, Captain 58095, 2nd The Lincolnshire Regiment killed in action near Ypres, 29th May 1940 aged 27.
Son of James Bertram Faulkner and Mary Hamilton Cartland nee Scobell. 1911 with his parents at Amerie Court, Pershore, Worcestershire.
At restin Zuidschote Churchyard, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, his brother Captain John who died the following day.

John Ronald Hamilton Cartland, M.P., Major 70394, 53rd Worcestershire Yeomanry, Anti Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery who was killed near Cassell 30 May 1940 aged 33.
Son of James Bertram Faulkner and Mary Hamilton Cartland nee Scobell. 1911 with his parents Amerie Court, Pershore, Worcestershire.
He was Member of Parliament for Kings Norton Division of Birmingham, 1935-1940.
At rest in Hotton War cemetery, Luxembourge, Belgium
