Alfred WHITE. Sergeant, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner 540565 Royal Air Force. attached to 10 Operational Training Unit, RAF Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Born 1918 to Alfred James White and Ada Beatrice Harriet White, nee Woods of Heanor, Derbyshire.
On the 1 October 1940 he was part crew on an Avro Anson R3304 lost on a cross country flight and firing practice at sea Cardigan Bay when the aircraft developed a technical fault and the pilot had to undertake a force landing on the Irish Sea, tragically he was the only one who lost his life.
At rest in Movilla Cemetery Newtownards County Down, Northern Ireland.
