NAVAL FUNERAL
The funeral of the late A. G. Lobb, Master-at-Arms of H. M. S. Ramillies took place on Friday afternoon at Bighi Hospital Cemetery, under most impressive circumstances. In the absence of the flagship from the port, the funeral party was furnished by H.M.S. Illustrious, and all the arrangements for the interment were most satisfactorily carried out under the supervision of Captain Sir Richard Poore, R.N. The masters-at-arms of all the ships in harbour attended the solemn ceremony, the senior four officiating as pall-bearers, and the others as chief mourners.
In addition, the funeral was attended by large numbers of Chief and First Class Petty Officers, ships' corporals, seamen and marines, thus showing by their voluntary attendance the respect and esteem in which the deceased petty officer was held by the men of the Fleet. A large number of civilians was also present. Numerous wreaths and crosses were presented, in fact the coffin was literally hidden by the floral tributes.
