I made this model in 1974, not long after I'd finished my apprenticeship as a plater welder and was a Petty officer engineer in the Royal Naval Auxiliary Service.
There were no plans available so I only had my notes and my own photographs to go by. I served on this ship and one other of the same class for ten years. Also served on a number of others but these were my favourites! The model is made from scrap metal, mostly arc welded with the handrails being silver soldered. The mast being made from 12 swg welding electrodes. I made three back then, one for my C.O. when he retired and one for my Area Commander when he retired. I recently
recently had it sand blasted so that I could re-paint it.
