A United Nations deadline is set to expire on Monday for the Sudanese authorities to improve security in the troubled Darfur region.
The UN is threatening action if Sudan fails to disarm pro-government militias blamed for killing thousands of civilians and forcing many to flee.

Another 150 African troops are to head to Darfur to guard ceasefire monitors.

The move comes as peace talks mediated by the African Union continue in the Nigerian capital Abuja.

An official for British aid agency Oxfam told the BBC the onset of the rainy season would worsen a "very miserable" situation for refugees in the western region of Darfur.
