The oldest Yugoslav partisan Đoko Pavićević (left) in March 1942. A veteran of World War 1, he joined the guerilla movement in 1941 during the July 13 Uprising, aged 69. After the war he was proclaimed a People's Hero of Yugoslavia and died in 1970, a month after his 98th birthday.

Yugoslav partizans had prewar weapon factory in Uzice running for two months in late 1941 21000 guns 800000 bullets 18000 hand grenades were produced during that 2 months. Sadly on 22.11.1941 they had major explosions in which 110 people died and factory ceased to work.

Polish prtisants of 1st.Regiment Podhale Rifle fully dressed in German uniforms. Winter cloating was a constant problem as th Regiment operational area was Podhale region o southern Poland, mountainous area with severe winter weather. The uniforms ere acquired during raid on Whermacht and Slivakian warehouses (Slovakia was one of the countries who invaded Poland in 1939). Photos from Hubert Brooks collection.

As the Allies advanced across Europe liberating occupied countries, resistance groups became emboldened and overtly took up arms against their former occupiers.
Here, armed Belgian resisters have captured a 7.5 cm PaK 40 auf Sfl.LrS Marder I...which itself was based on a French Lorraine Schlepper, large numbers of which were captured by the Germans in the 1940 campaign and subsequently re-purposed.
A large white Allied star has been painted on the vehicle whilst the German cross has been partially obscured.
Note the kill rings on the 75mm gun barrel.

The car with two German officers and two privates tried to drive out of the Freeport. The officers were killed by resistance fighters.

It was possible to find anti-Communists there as well, but many Partisan Groups we pro, it was thus easier to get weapons and aid from the Soviets.
Some Anti-Communist Partisans held out in Eastern Europe until the mid 1950's.
