Removing the temporary patch from Colorado class battleship USS West Virginia (BB-48), June 1942. The long wavy section in the center is her 13.5" armour belt, massively distorted by the close impact of several Type 91 torpedoes. Her hull above and below the belt suffered far more damage. Shipyard workers also had to remove the remains up to 70 dead sailors

Later, she was transferred to the Indian Ocean. 1914-15
