The Gearing-class destroyer USS Brinkley Bass (DD-887) was so frequently targeted by pranksters that the captain would have to post a Marine on the fantail while in port to prevent mischievous sailors from painting over the B's of the ship's name.

The newest signals intelligence gathering ship HSwMS Artemis (A-202) will be christened in Karlskrona on April 3, 2024. Artemis replaces Sweden's only signals intelligence gathering vessel HSwMS Orion (A-201), which was launched in 1984.

USN:
USS Bunker Hill (AVT-9) in reserve at San Diego in the late 60's. A great example of the Essex class in their original layout. Despite an attempt to convert her into a museum, the ship was scrapped in Tacoma, WA in 1973.
