Corporal 24258076 Richard Ralph Atwell BRASS, Queens Regiment died 21st May 1987 aged 31. He was the son of Thomas and he lived 19, Woodcot Avenue, Belfast He was laid rest with his father in Dundonald Cemetery, County Down, Northern Ireland on the 27th May 1987
Captain 550713, Queen's Lancashire Regiment, born 4th June 1974, killed in action in Basra, Iraq 14th August 2003 aged 29. At rest in All Saints churchyard, South Elkington, Near Louth, Lincolnshire

Instituted 20th June 1974 for acts of exemplary acts of bravery. Although intended primarily for civilians, it is awarded to members of the armed forces for actions which would not be deemed suitable for a military decoration.
