Good spirits: The Georgian contingent in KFOR are based at Mahmusa in MNB South.
The Georgians
Georgia, another former Soviet Republic which became independent in 1989, has had its own army since 1991. It contributes to the mission in Kosovo with experienced personnel from the Special Forces. But here the Georgian soldiers are an integral part of the Turkish contingent at Mahmusa in MNB South. The Georgian soldiers are armed with Turkish weapons and wear Turkish uniforms. Only the flag of the Republic of Georgia and the military insignia on their uniforms are different. The Georgian soldiers task is run checkpoints alongside their Turkish colleagues and carry out patrolling.

Central African Republic. Background: Georgia contributes to the mission since 2014 starting with a reinforced company. The current deployment (EUTM RCA - since 2016) however is a small contingent of 35 men (1 platoon + liaison) on a rotation basis, and is tasked with protecting the mission until the UN mandate expires.

These were the exact same equipment issued by the Turkish Army in Kosovo back in those days. Turkish Army standard issue ERDL camo of 90s, Turkish Army 8. Main Maintenance Base made first gen. ballistic vests and probably MKEK made G3A3 rifles as well. Also the troops are wearing the exact same green berets which issued by Turkish troops deployed abroad. They were probably under Turkish command or used Turkish equipment at least.

Well yes, that's also what the source says
The first year of its formation into a unified force, Georgian SF trained mostly in Turkey because before US involvment we had no proper infrastructure for that. So they were acquainted with all that stuff. They sill train on G-3s / HK-33 even nowadays. Turkey was the only NATO member in reach and also affordable. Our pilots also trained mostly in Turkey.

Ouch . I was too lazy to read all of the info above. Thanks for the heads up
No probs fam. Really if it wasn't for Turkey our SF would have prob had a hard time to establish a proper force in that period because there was no money for infrastructure, let alone equipment back then. Its most likely also the country they got their MP5s and diving gear from or all HK weapons for that matter.

German COS (GenInspBw) General Zorn met with his Georgian counterpart in Tbilisi to discuss further cooperation in the areas of international peacekeeping operations, military education, cyber warfare, joint exercises, as well as combating chemical, biological and nuclear threats. Germany is involved as one of the main components of the SNGP ( "Substantial NATO-Georgia Package" ). It particularily expressed the desire to introduce a new initiative within the framework of said package. Namely to build and improve countermobility operations capabilities ( disrupting, diverting and delaying enemy movements by various means in order to increase target aquisition and weapons effectiveness ), which goes 1 on 1 with Georgia's defence priorities. To implement the initiative, Germany will provide substantial practical as well as financial aid.
