First of 20 PLA(N) Type 056 corvettes to be transferred to the Chinese Coast Guard
dibnte0mgb781.jpg

The first 20 Type 056 frigates/corvettes (depending on the naming convention) are being transferred over from the Chinese Navy to the Coast Guard, with the expectation of an additional 20 improved 056As to be built.
The 056s were originally designed as green water patrol vessels, to replace the (literally) hundreds of patrol frigates, submarine chasers, patrol boats, coastal gunboats, and fast attack missile boats they had in their inventory. The Coast Guard was expected to procure their own variants but apparently it was decided to transfer the older PLAN hulls over to them instead. They carried a 76mm main gun, 30mm or 14.5mm defensive guns (depending on the ship), YJ-83 anti-ship missiles, torpedoes, and a HQ-10 RAM-style CIWS. Here, the HQ-10 has been replaced with a satcom array, and the anti-ship missiles were replaced with water cannons. it retains the 76mm and 30mm cannons. It also has a new LED signboard installed just below the mast.

"On January 12th 1922, HMS Victory was brought into No. 2 dock at Portsmouth, the oldest drydock in the world. This is a family photo that we have recently discovered in a long-forgotten tin box of the team of divers involved. Joseph Boyett (left-hand diver), a shipwright at Portsmouth dockyard, was one of the team involved. Posted by Robert and Dick Boyett - Joseph is our great grandfather/grand father."
