GULF OF ALASKA (May 3, 2021) A U.S. Marine Corps AH-1Z Viper assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 164 (Reinforced), 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit flies over the Gulf of Alaska in support of Northern Edge 2021. U.S. service members are participating in a joint training exercise hosted by U.S. Pacific Air Forces May 3-14, 2021, on and above the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex, the Gulf of Alaska, and temporary maritime activities area. NE21 is one in a series of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command exercises designed to sharpen the joint forces’ skills; to practice tactics, techniques, and procedures; to improve command, control and communication relationships; and to develop cooperative plans and programs. Awesome pics! One question did spring to mind:

I heard Garand thumb on his latest video that the M4 SOPMOD Block II is about to phased out... and Im like hang on, Im still seeing army and navy guys running around with the Block one, including Colt M4's with KAC rails, fixed front sight posts, standard stocks, ACOGs, M203's QD suppressors and standard bird cage flash hiders. Not just Marines but army too. Was he maybe referring to the SOCOM community?

Supposedly M-27 is replacing M-4 in USMC infantry units. The M-4 remains for support Marine units and US Army, etc.
