Medals don't mean much to some vets. At Camp Lejeune, I had barracks cleanup duty one morning & while sweeping I found a silver star medal on the floor among rubbish. NCO in charge of the detail told me just to toss it, so I did. Didn't feel right about that but knew it was wrong for me to keep it.
