Sergeant 31562 William Thomas BURLEY 1st Garrison Battalion, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry died 20 July 1918. His wife Sarah was granted a war gratuity 23 October 1918 revised 3 December 1919.
Born 1880 in Market Drayton, Shropshire to f Richard and Sarah Ann Burley nee Leadbeater.
1881 he was residing with his parents and siblings at Frogmore Road, Market Drayton.
1891 still with his parents now residing at 15 Campbell Road, Boothen, Stoke on Trent
1901 residing by himself at Church Hill Street, Winshill, Staffordshire, occupation, brewer’s clerk.
1911 Now married and residing with his wife Sarah Eveline nee Allerton at 87 Walvern Street, Stapenhill, Burton on Trent. Occupation, brewer’s clerk. He was married on 1906.

William Thomas BURLEY of Outwoods Street, Burton on Trent a Sergeant Instructor with the 1st Reserve Garrison Battalion, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry died 27 July 1918 at the Military Hospital, Bere Island, Castletown, Cork, Ireland. His effects went to cecil Arthur Ball brewery director and Joseph Shardlow, brewer’s clerk.

He is commemorated on a brass tablet in St Peter's Church (Stoke Minister) Stoke on Trent and is at rest in Hartshill Cemetery, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.
