This screen is erected in loving and grateful memory of the men from the parish who gave their lives in the Great War 1914 - 1918
Also as a thankoffering for deliverance from our enemies

William BASSON. Driver 32616, 75th Field Company, Royal Engineers killed in action 04/11/1918 aged 25. He was the son of Henry and Rosanna Basson, of The Church House, Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Villers-Pol Communal Cemetery, Extension, Nord France.
Horace Edgar HAWINS. Private 26274, C Company, 10th Gloucestershire Regiment died 21/09/1916 aged 23. He was the son of Mr and Mrs H H Hawkins, of Manor House, Welford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L\'Abbe, Somme, France.
George Valentine PARRISH. Lance Corporal 266961, 1/7th Royal Warwickshire Regiment died 22/08/1917 aged 22. He was the son of Ernest Valentine Parriss and Mary Ann Parriss, of Shakespeare Stores, Welford-on-Avon. He is at rest in the Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium.
William BLUNDELL. Lance Corporal 26061, 2nd Gloucestershire Regiment died 01/09/1918 aged 20. He was the son of William and Minnie Blanche Blundell, of "The Yews," Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Karasouli Military, Greece Cemetery,
Herbert HORNBY, Private 8069, 11th Royal Warwickshire Regiment killed in action 20/05/1917. He was born and enlisted in Welford-on-Avon. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
Albert RICHARDS. Private 5123, 2nd Royal Warwickshire Regiment died 17/07/1916 aged 22. He was the son of John and Miriam Richards, of Hazel Wood, Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. He is at rest in Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L\'Abbe, Somme, France.
Alfred Claude DINGLEY. Captain, 7th North Staffordshire Regiment died 19/04/1916 aged 25. He was the son of Alfred and Maude M. Dingley, of Imbros, Welford-on-Avon. Also served at Gallipoli. He was Mentioned in Despatches three times. He is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
Ebenezer Francis HUNT. Private 769, 2nd Royal Warwickshire Regiment died of wounds on the 12/04/1915 aged 28 at 22nd Field Ambulance, Estaires. He was the son of James and Sarah Ada. He was living with his parents and siblings in 1901 at 51, Proctor Street, Aston, Warwickshire. His sisters, Maria, Sarah, Florence and his widow, Hannah were all granted a war gratuity. He is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France.

Frederick James FARLEY. Lance Corporal 2822, 9th Royal Warwickshire Regiment died 17/08/1915 aged 25. He was the son of Thomas and Eliza Mercy of Laburnum Cottage, Welford on Avon. He is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey (including Gallipoli).
Francis LIDDELL. Private 28633, 1st Hampshire Regiment died 22/04/1918 aged 18. He was the son of William and Annie Liddell, of Brook Leys, Bickmarsh, Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. In 1911 he was living with his parents and siblings at Earls Common, Himbleton, Droitwich His brother William Henry also fell. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.
H.SMITH. It may be this person. Henry Harvey SMITH. Private 8469, 1st Duke of Cornwall\'s Light Infantry killed in action on the 14/10/1914. He was born in South Littleton, lived in Evesham, both in Worcestershire and enlisted in Stratford on Avon, Warwickshire. He was the son of Mrs Julia Harrison, of Shinnel Lane, South Littleton, Evesham. He is at rest in Vauxbuin French National Cemetery, France.
Frank FREEMAN. Private 28218, 9th Gloucestershire Regiment died 25/05/1917 aged 20. He was the son of Rosa Freeman of The Close, Welford on Avon. He is commemorated on the Doiran Memorial, Greece.
William Henry LIDDELL. Private 32835, 2/5th Gloucestershire Regiment. Born at Belbroughton, Worcestershire to William and Annie of Brook Leys, Bickmarsh, Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. In 1911 he was living with his parents and siblings at Earls Common, Himbleton, Droitwich. He was aged 15 and he was employed as a plough boy on a farm. He died of wounds on the 05/12/1917. His brother, Francis also fell He is at rest in Sunken Road Cemetery, Villers-Plouich, France.
William SMITH. Lance Corporal 15206, 9th Worcestershire Regiment died in Mesopotamia on the 07/07/1916. He was born and raised in Welford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Basra War Cemetery, Iraq.
E HANCOX. It may be the following. Ernest HANCOX. Private 1573, 2nd Royal Warwickshire Regiment died of wounds on the 29/01/1915, aged 24. He was raised at Cubbington, Warwickshire and he was the son of George and Emma. He is at rest in Chocques Military Cemetery, France.
James Arthur MATTHEWS. Private 31395, 1/6th Gloucestershire Regiment died 09/08/1917 aged 28. He was the son of Sarah Rosetta Matthews, of Virginia Cottage, Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Belgium.

Geoffrey Roger BRYAN. Corporal 4042446, 2nd King\'s Shropshire Light Infantry died 06/06/1944 aged 23. He was the son of Sam and Agnes Mary Bryan, of Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. He is at rest in La Delivrande War Cemetery, Douvres, France.
