Vetterlis

Four different styles of Italian Vetterlis

Top is an M1870/87 rifle in 10.4x47R caliber. These started out as single shots but were upgraded to repeaters by adding a Vitali magazine.
Under that is an M1870/87/15 which is the same but rebarreled to 6,5 Carcano caliber. These were made up in the dark days of WW1 for drilling so Carcanos could be used by line troops. Never fire surplus ammo in these - the action is too weak.
Then you see a Carabineri TS converted from single shot 10.4 caliber to 6,5 caliber repeater. These are very uncommon, and wouldn't I like to find a bayonet for it!
Bottom is a cavalry carbine still in 10.4x47r and still a single shot.
