This is a photo I made from the tail of a sand surfing expedition in the red sands of the Kalahari in 1988. We were most probably very near near to the border of Botswana
I forgot to write that the convoy was a whole mechanised battalion of the 1st South African Infantry. The sand surfing thing was an attempt at prose
Anyway, it was nothing short of an unforgettable experience, being out there for weeks on end, with the smells and sounds of the wild, and the most amazing starry skies you ever did see.
