SETTLE Mellard. Captain, 5th North Staffordshire Regiment. He was the youngest son of Joel and Margaret Caroline of The Hill, Alsager. He was born on the 20th January 1895 and died a Prisoner of War at Mainz, Germany 23rd December 1918. "Out of the stress of the doing, into the peace of the done" He was re-interred here May 19th 1920.
