Hess was simply a "nut job" is sentence of imprisonment was not out of line, although I think that he might have been better off being admitted to hospital.

The creep pictured next to him, namely, Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop, who got his "neck streched", which he clearly deserved for his underhanded political conspiracy w/ Hitler against other European leaders/nations including the well intentioned PM's Neville Chamberlain & Eduard Duladier, to name just two.
