Welcome Dave, and as Bombardier said, lets see your photo's. Maybe my dad is on some of yours. By putting them on this site, we are ensuring these images are not lost and forgotten. I still have some to scan and post, you might see your dad on some of those. I also pester colleagues and friends for their photo's.
Best regards,
Geoff.
Hi
does anybody know who the Royal is sleeping at the bottom of the picture (coller insignia showing ) as he appears in several of my dads photos. All i know is he became a Col Sgt as did my dad and my godfather Joe Ayling who ran the Fawset inn pub in portsmouth
thanks
Dave
That is my father, Marine Alf (Jock) Davidson sleeping on his back in the foreground behind the Royal with the collar insignia. He came from Cambuslang, joined the RM in 1936 and left in 1948 to become a Metropolitan Policeman. He died in 1968 aged 50. I have some more photographs of his time in SHEFFIELD and will post them as soon as I can get to a scanner.
