ROSS Brothers

This memorial is inside the Holy Trinity Church, Glencraig, County Down, Northern Ireland.

ROSS Kenneth. 2nd Lieutenant 4th Royal Irish Rifles attached to the 2nd battalion. Killed while leading their platoons into action at Hooge, battle of Loos, 25th September 1915 aged 25. He was the 5th son of George Harrison and Henrietta of Cultra, County Down. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.

ROSS Melbourne. 2nd Lieutenant 4th Royal Irish Rifles attached to the 2nd battalion. Killed while leading their platoons into action at Hooge, battle of Loos, 25th September 1915. He was the 2nd son of George Harrison and Henrietta of Cultra, County Down. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.

ROSS Wason. Rifleman 20/85, 2nd Royal Irish Rifles. He was killed in action at Wulverghem on the 13th April 1918 aged 23. Several of his comrades having been killed in an attempt to fix a machine gun on the parapet of the trenches, he stood up to carry on the task, thereby exposing himself to a deadly fire. He was the 6th and youngest son of George Harrison and Henrietta of Cultra, County Down. He is at rest in Wulverghem-Lindenhoek Road Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium
Army Record. Only one sheet remains, cover sheet, Army Form B.2505 Short Service, Attestation. He joined up on the 28th April 1914 as Private 2331, Sports Battalion. By profession he was a chartered accountant aged 20 and he lived at Cultra, County Down.
1911 Census shows him aged 16 at the Eastmans Royal Naval Academy, Northwood Park, Crawley, Hampshire.
