HALL Robert Frederick George. Pte 2686, B Coy, 1/5th North Staffordshire Regiment, killed in action 13th October 1915 aged 25 at Loos. Son of Richard James and Mary Ann of Lynwood, Church Road, Alsager.
Commemorated on a family memorial at Christ Church churchyard, Alsager, Cheshire.
Some notes from what remains of his army record -
He joined up on the 27th August 1914 aged 23 years and 11 months, occupation, student and posted to the 5th TF North Staffs Regiment. He had previously served in the 5th Territorial Force, North Staffordshire Regiment. His next of kin was his father Richard James and they lived at Lynwood, Church Road, Alsager. 5th March 1915 he was posted to France and on 13th October 1915 was reported missing. He was struck off the strength of the battalion on 4th January 1916, presumed to have died on or since 13th October 1915. HIS embodied service was from the 27th August 1914 to 13th October 1915.
