Extended Description
Robert Camac STERLING. Pilot Officer, Observer 77981. Royal Air Force (VR). 149 Squadron RAF Midenhall, Suffolk. Born 17 March 1918 to David Colston and Jean Smyth Sterling, nee Stuart of 3 Olney, Terrace, Belfast. At the time of his death his last place of residence was 27 Ballygomartin Road, North Belfast. He was crew of a Vickers Wellington T2459 which was a bombing raid on Gotha, Germany. The plane was attacked by a Germany plane on the 23 July 1940 killing Robert Sterling age 22. The crew returned safely back to their base.
