Company Sergeant Major 8873, Richard Jones, Northumberland Fusiliers. What remains of his Army record only shows his time from 1914. He joined up on the 10th September 1914 and was posted as Sergeant 8873 14th Northumberland Fusiliers Reserves and on the 26th September 1915 promoted to Company Sergeant Major still with the 14th Battalion. On the 6th September 1898 he married spinster Maria Dallas at Alnwick. He gave his address at 88, Donnison Street, Dunston His place of birth was Hanley, Staffordshire and his occupation was given a a store keeper and later a miner. On the 27th January he was discharged from the army as being no longer physically fit for war service with the rank of C.S.M. No record was found as to the cause of his discharge, no any record for he previous service in the army.
