Joe BLAGG MBE
Ex Royal Garrison Artillery No. 72191
Died 21 April 1979 aged 89.

Born 1890 at Nantwich, Cheshire to James and Sarah Ann Blagg, nee Davies of (in 1891) 44 Beam Street, Nantwich . At the time his residence was 16 Park View, Nantwich.

Enlisted 25 November 1915 into the Royal Garrison Artillery aged 26. Given number 72191.

Married Sarah Ellen Hende at St Marys Church, Nantwich Cheshire 28th April 1915 and they were residing at 6 East View, Nantwich with their son Joe, later they moved to Liverpool. His occupation was an assurance agent. About 29 July 1917 he was shot and wounded in the buttocks and sacrum in France and was treated at 58 Casualty Clearing Station, France. On 4 September he was transferred to No 4 General Hospital, Camiers. Invalided to England and admitted into No 1 London General Hospital, Camberwell on the 12 August 1917. He was discharged from the army on the 21st September 1918 as being no longer physically fit for war service.
