Pte 21/243, 15th Durham Light Infantry, son of Richard and Jane of Brookland Villa, Audley Road, Alsager formerly of 3. Lake terrace East, Jarrow on Tyne who was lost in France in the Great War, about the 24th March 1918 aged 20 yrs and 6 months (CWGC list 31st March 1918) Native of Wheatley Hill, Durham
He enlisted 6 November 1915 got to the rank of L/Sgt. On CO's Orders 2nd October 1917, charged with willfully discharging a fire arm in camp (Scotton Camp, Catterick). Punishment reverted to the ranks. Occupation prior to enlistment Student Teacher

Commemorated on a family memorial at Christ Church churchyard, Alsager, Cheshire, and also on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France
