Harry Thomas CHESSHER, Colour-Sergeant 4626, Royal Marine Artillery, HMS Exmouth. Born September 1876, baptised 7th September 1876 at St Michael, Wood Green, Haringey, England, son of Henry and Elizabeth. In 1891 he was living with his widowed mother and siblings at 272 Hanover Buildings, Horseleydown, London. He appeard to have been in the navy at Portsmouth as Boy, Electrical Engineers, enlisted July 1892. After reading a letter informing him that his wife (Agnes) had died he took his own life by shooting himself with a small revolver on Saturday 5th December 1908, aged 32 years on board HMS Exmouth. He married Agnes Lipscombe in Portsmouth in 1906 and she passed away in Portsmouth, 1907, they left one child. Alice Mary Chessher born October 1907 at Portsmouth. In 1911 she was living with her widowed grandmother Elizabeth Cheshire.
Wills and Admin, Ancestry - His address in England was Eastney Barracks, Portsmouth and died on HMS Exmouth, in Malta. His effects went to his mother Elizabeth Chessher, widow.
