1st/5th Gloucestershire Regiment
Died 1963

Son of Harry George Davies of 38 Church Street, Tewkesbury. He joined 5th Reserve Btn. 8 September 1914 aged 18 years and 221 days and was a cabinet maker. Reported 27 August 1916 missing, 1 September 1916 now reported not missing in hospital in England. He was in War Hospital Bradford 19 August 1916 to 24 October 1916 and had anaemia. 27 August 1917 he was transferred to 10th Btn. Royal Defence Corp. No. 64139. He served in France 29 March 1915 to 31 August 1916. 23 July 1916 he received a gunshot wound to the head. When discharged 3 November 1917 to pension, his disability was given as gunshot wound to right arm and back.

Story of above posted in a shop exhibition in Main Street, Tewkesbury, opposite the War Memorial.
