George Lathley Goodwin. Ordinary Seaman Royal Navy on HMS Colossus
Born 01 June 1874 at Lambeth, Surrey to James Henry and Harriott Goodwin, nee Abberley.
1881 with his parents and siblings at 73 Royal Road, Newington, London.
1891 in the Royal Navy aged 16 as Boy on HMS Ganges moored in Falmouth Harbour, Cornwall.
Died 02 January 1893 from a fatal stabbing into his heart and the result of a street brawl by Gunner Guiseppe Vall of the Royal Malta Fencible Artillery

He was first laid to rest in Bighi Naval Cemetery, Malta.
This cemetery closed 1966-1967. He is now in a Mass Grave in Capuccini Naval Cemetery.

Occupation of enlistment greengrocer’s assistant.
He enlisted as Boy 2nd Class on the 25 April 1890 on HMS Impregnable to 28 April 1890.
HMS Ganges from 29 April 1890 to 30 June 1891 when he was promoted to Boy 1st Class.
HMS Impregnable 01 July 1891 to 19 December 1891.
HMS Colossus 20 December 1891 promoted to Ordinary Seaman 01 June 1892
Date not known, the ship was moored in the Grand Harbour and whilst on shore leave 02 January 1893 was murdered by a Gunner from the Royal Malta Fencible Artillery

Guiseppe Vella a gunner in the Royal Malta Fencible Artillery who in January last was found guilty of the murder of a seaman named Goodwin, belonging H.M. Battleship, Colossus, was executed at Malta on Monday 13th March 1893.
