Geoffrey Dunster ALLEN. Lieutenant Australian Flying Corps died 7th September 1918. Son of George. W. Allen, of Maynella, Deakin Avenue, Haberfield, New South Wales. Native of Newcastle, N.S.W., next of kin lived at Haberfield, N.S.W., enlisted at Sydney, N.S.W. At rest in Leighterton Church Cemetery, Gloucestershire.

He joined up on the 15th June 1917 aged 20 and 7 months
On the 7th September 1918 he was flying his Sopwith Camel plane over Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire. He was on one of his final test before going to fighting school. This test was called stunts, in which he had to various aerobatics one being a loop. At approximately 4, 000 feet he commenced at loop at the top the plane fell out sideways, falling onto its back into a flat spin, crashing into a hay shed belonging to Clarke's Farm Minchinhampton. The plane was completely destroyed and the pilot killed. The wreckage was examined at it appeared the pilot kept the joy stick forward, as the plane was on its back, preventing the plane to regain its normal position. He was killed about 06.05pm from a compound fracture to his skull.
