To commemorate the self sacrifice of
Garratt Primrose JENKINS, Second Lieutenant Royal Field Artillery who gave up his young life in his Country’s defence in the Great War.
This tablet is erected as a mark of sympathy with his father Major A.P. JENKINS 11th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles who suffered wounds and imprisonment in the same cause, by his colleagues of the Lisburn Urban District Council.

Born 30 November 1897 to Adam Primrose Jenkins and Maria Alys Jenkins, nee Garratt of Craigavad, Holywood County Down Ireland
Irish 1901 Census with his parents and siblings 41 Clifton Road, Bangor County Down. Irish 1911 Census with his parents and siblings at 5 Seymour Street, Belfast. Later of Lisburn County Antrim.
In France 19 December 1916, killed in action by bomb dropped from an aircraft 7 September 1917 aged 19. At about the time of his death his parents were residing at Morestead Grove, Winchester. His father was granted a war gratuity 7 March 1918 revised 19 November 1919.

Born 11 October 1865 in Belfast to William John and Helen Davie Jenkins, nee Primrose of 25 Queen Street, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland. Irish 1901 Census with his wife and children at 41 Clifton Road, Bangor County Down.
Irish 1911 Census with his wife and children at 5 Seymour Street, Belfast, occupation, linen merchant.

Married by license, Maria Alys Garratt the 12 January 1897 at the parish church of Holywood County Down. He was residing at Dunnellon Belfast.
Fought in the Great War, wounded and taken prisoner of war, survived, died 28 August 1928 aged 62 at rest in Norestead Churchyard, Winchester Hampshire.
Headstone inscription reads. In ever loving memory of Adam Primrose Jenkins. Major 11th Royal Irish Rifles. Ulster Division of Morestead Grove. “His spirit hath returned unto God who gave it” Aug 28th 1928
